Newspapers in Art Education
Art teachers, we understand that you simply cannot turn the print replica into paper mache or lay it across tables to protect them from paint splatters. The Newspapers in Arts Education program is just for you.
This program is open to PreK-12 public and private school art teachers, as well as self-contained teachers that lead art projects in their classrooms. You may request in advance and make arrangements to pick-up unused white paper end rolls from The Oklahoman‘s production plant in northwest Oklahoma City.
Here’s how the program works:
- Since availability of end rolls fluctuates, contact Cindy Weir at (405) 475-3824 to check availability and to arrange a time to pick-up. Standard pick-up times are 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
- Remember to bring a note on school or district letterhead verifying your employment or association with your school. This way you get the paper at no charge.
- At the arranged time, come to 9000 N Broadway, Oklahoma City, OK 73114. You will need to enter through the security gate along Britton Road. Tell the guard you are here to pick up paper for a school. The guard will give you instructions on driving to dock D, where someone will meet you to load the paper.
By the way, we’d love to see your students’ creations with these newspapers! Please submit your photos to NIE ARTS. (Photos may be used on the Newspapers in Education website or social media promotion.)
